WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY?

Counselling and psychotherapy are both professional and therapeutic relationships. Psychotherapy takes a more long term commitment and seeks to work at a deep level, whereas counselling is several sessions and it is generally for the less complex issues.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FOR THE FIRST SESSION?

Your counsellor will explain the boundaries around the counselling relationship, they will ask you what has brought you to counselling and will help you to explore your goals and they may explain how they will work together with you to help meet them. They will tell you what you can expect from them and this is try to answer any questions that you may have about them and their methods.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

  • Individual                                                    50 mins                        £40

  • Relationship                                               75 mins                         £60  

  • Prepare/Enrich assessment for couples  (additional cost)           £35

  • Family                                                         90 mins                         £70

  • Fee's are payable either prior to or on each session by cash or bank transfer.

  • Cancellations may incur a £15 fee if 24 hour notice is not given.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This will be discussed in the first session and then reviewed after 6 sessions (except for EAP clients).

ARE MY SESSIONS CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes each session is confidential, however there is a limit to this and your counsellor has an obligation to report any risk of harm - either to yourself or others and particularly children.
